All wet areas (walk-in showers, wet rooms, steam showers) require a certified liquid or sheet waterproofing tanking system over cement backing boards prior to setting stone. This prevents subfloor moisture saturation and structural degradation behind porous marble.

Natural marble is crystalline and semi-translucent. Standard gray thin-set adhesive will bleed through the tile structure, leaving permanent dark shadows on light stones. Always use a polymer-modified white natural stone adhesive.

Apply a penetrating impregnating sealer before grouting and re-apply every 12 to 18 months. Clean daily using strictly pH-neutral stone cleaners. Never use acidic household sprays (vinegar, bleach, lemon juice), as acid chemically etches marble polish.
